It’s Day 9 of my fall 10×10 wardrobe challenge.

I’m really glad I played around with this skirt again today. I really like that pairing this skirt with a solid black top kind of turns it into a solid black dress. It’s like having the seamless-ness of a dress, but the options of separates. And I think the orange in the plaid button up breaks up the sea of black in a very autumnal way.

Breaking in the boots is still a total pain, but it’s not quite as bad as when I first put them on, so I think including them in this mini-capusle wardrobe was a good idea.

I can’t believe tomorrow is day 10! Not sure what I’ll wear yet, but we’ll see!

Day 8 of my Fall 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge! Only a couple days left.

Here this shirt again. I’ve said it the last couple days, and I’ll say it again. Chilly fall weather is here and I’m so glad that I included some easy to throw on warmer pieces in my fall 10×10 wardrobe. And today is a little bit of a stylistic lazy day.

But as much as I love my go-to uniform type looks, I think I want to play around with some of the newer pieces I’ve included in this mini-capsule wardrobe. I build this capsule wardrobe to play around with a couple newer pieces I’ve incorporated into my wardrobe recently, and also experiment with some pieces I’ve had for a long time. So I think tomorrow I’ll pull the skirt I included in this wardrobe back out and experiment.

How many times can you change your clothes in one day? || Fall 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge Day 7

Another go-to easy to throw on look for today. For the past couple days, I’m really loving being able to throw on some easy, comfortable, familiar looks. So I’m glad that in addition to putting some newer pieces to experiment with in this mini-capsule wardrobe, I included some older go-to pieces as well.

I know I said this yesterday, but fall is definitely here in New York. I actually swapped out the tee-shirt for a camisole before running out this afternoon, because it works better with a scarf for me.

While I was thinking about writing this post, I realized that I tend to change clothes a lot throughout my day. I know that a large part of this is because I work from home and my whole closet is right around the corner, easy to get to. It’s not uncommon that I stay in pjs until I finish my coffee, and then change into some sort of lounge-wear/tee-shirt/shorts/jeans for the morning, then shower and change into “real clothes” sometime around the middle of the day, and then potentially change for the evening (either to grab dinner, or back clothes for lounging/pjs). Writing this out it seems like an absurd number of clothing changes for someone who doesn’t live in the world of Downton Abbey, but here I am.

I’m definitely not 100% sure why this is, but I think at least part of it is because changing clothes is an easy way to break up my day. Since I work primarily from home it’s really, really, really easy for my to-do list to grow forever and for me to spend my entire day staring at my computer working. It’s nice to have an obvious physical activity that breaks up my day.

Could this activity be something other than changing clothes multiple times a day? Yea.

But, for now at least, this is working for me, so I’ll go with it.

It’s Day 6 of my Fall 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge!

And fall weather is officially here in NYC. This shirt is basically a slightly heavier weight version of the blue and green plaid button-up shirt from my Summer 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge, which makes it perfect for when the weather starts to turn a little bit colder.

A little part of me is wondering if I have enough layers for how chilly it’s getting. But the days are supposed to be sunny and climbing back up into the 70s starting Wednesday, so I’m pretty sure it’ll be fine.

Today was another day when I switched between two pairs of shoes in an effort to spend a bit more time concentrating on breaking in my new boots. But other than that the main notable thing about this look is how easy it is. I love being able to throw on some jeans, a button up, and my go-to accessories.

I know isn’t the most interesting look. But I think having some easy go-to outfits in these wardrobe challenges is part of what makes them the whole challenge work. At least that’s part of what makes these challenges work for me. I like knowing that on days when I don’t want to have to think about what I’m wearing, I have a “uniform” in my back pocket.

Yesterday was Day 5 of the Fall 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge. Halfway through!

I paired a basic black camisole, with black jeans, and threw a plaid shirt-dress over the whole thing. I really like how it looks with the booths, but I actually switched my Frye boots for my Salome Buttero from Dr. Martens’ for the later half of yesterday, and grabbed a scarf to wear out for dinner. Which I’m very glad I did, because it got far colder than I was expecting.

This shirt-dress is also one of the newer pieces that I’m using this mini-capsule wardrobe to experiment with. But in reality, I’ve been wearing it pretty consistently every since I got it. I love that it’s light enough to wear with shorts, but also heavy enough to be a warm layer when it’s slightly chilly.

When I was planning my 10×10 mini-capsule wardrobe, the weather was going to be generally overcast in the 60s/70s this week, and then around the same temperature but sunny next week. So I knew I wanted pieces would layer, and also would work well on their own.
