It’s time for the Fall 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge!! I participated in my first 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge this summer, and loved it, so I couldn’t wait to participate again when the fall challenge came around.
If you’re unfamiliar, the 10×10 Wardrobe Challenge is hosted by Caroline of Un-Fancy, and Lee of Style Bee, and the basic idea behind this wardrobe challenge is: 10 pieces of clothing, 10 outfits, 10 days. It’s like a super low-key capsule wardrobe, and a really, really low pressure way to play around with a minimal wardrobe for a couple days. Both Caroline and Lee have more thorough introductions to the challenge on their blogs, Caroline’s is here, and Lee’s is here.
This time around my 10 piece wardrobe consists of: 2 pairs of boots, 1 pair of jeans, 1 skirt, 1 black camisole, 2 tee-shirt, 1 sheer over-shirt, 1 button up shirt, 1 dress
Looking over this list, I’m wondering how having only one camisole will work out. I’m contemplating turning this into an 11×10 wardrobe challenge and grabbing a second black cami, but I think I’ll hold off for the time being and see how things play out over the next couple days.
The weather over the next two weeks is supposed to be generally in the high 60s and 70s (a couple jump into the low 80s, and dipping into the low 60s/high 50s at times), more or less overcast with some rain. So, I concentrated on pieces I can layer and stuck with boots for my shoes.
Over the summer I used this challenge to experiment with working basic tee-shirts into my wardrobe, and this time around I’m using it to play around with a couple newer pieces I’ve incorporated into my wardrobe recently, and also experimenting some more with pieces I’ve had for a long time.
Today I went with head to toe black – black over-shirt, black camisole, black jeans, and black Dr. Martens’. Both the jeans and boots are repeats from my Summer 10×10 wardrobe, and are firmly staples of my day to day wardrobe.
To break up the black, on black, on black, on black I grabbed a handful of the pocket-watch necklaces I have and played around with layering them. It’s a fairly specific accessory look, and while I’m not sure I’d wear it day to day, I really like the chunkier take on layered necklaces.
